Our New Bunny..

Here’s the new bunny-

This image isn’t about the boots at all- but it’s funny how certain things can come to symbolize childhood.  For me, these boots will always call to mind memories my preschooler.  Jack’s entire 4th yeath has been spent right there in those boots.  They are always waiting for him by the backdoor, and he’s always ready to put them on.   I think I will start gathering up all the pictures I have of these boots- it shouldn’t be too hard.    Every picture I’ve taken of this boy within the last year, he’s worn these boots.   It’s hard to imagine it now, but I know I’ll miss them when they are outgrown.

Sisters

Posted in Uncategorized on March 28, 2007 by shannalynn

These two girls came to the studio yesterday for some sister shots.  I had seen both of the girls before (dance, Fall portraits, Easter) and I was under the impression that the youngest was extremely shy and very quiet.  I was wrong.   Let me say that again-

 I WAS WRONG!!!!!!!!!!

terribly wrong!  It took her a bit to warm up and when she did- she was a screamer!  Really- she would screech to the top of her lungs, yelling her little heart out and just erupt into a ball of laughter!  I had such a hard time just holding the camera- laughing so hard at her-  those doubled over, teared up, side pain laughs…   Anyway- I’ve concluded that I’m a terrible judge of 3 year old character and that it’s very loud in the Welch house!

I am loving this bright green new spring grass!

TWINS!!!

I traveled to Marksville yesterday- and I only got lost once…  which is pretty good considering I had 5 different people give me 5 different sets of directions!   All in all it’s not a bad trip- I got some alone time in the car and enjoyed the quiet ride down there!   That’s saying alot because now things aren’t quite so “quiet” at home anymore.  We have a new addition.  At any given time you’ll hear at least 2 people yelling “where is Crock Pot?- I can’t find Crock Pot!  Is Crock Pot in that room?”

Crock Pot is the new rabbit (thanks grandma!!)  I almost fell off my chair when Jack told me that bunny’s name.  If I had be drinking something I would have bathed Jack in it.  Let’s just say Stu has a touch of sarcasm in his humor!   I can safely say though- the rabbit will never be in an actual crock pot-yuck- but Jack is permantly attached to this thing and I have no idea what to do with it!   What do you do with a child who loves animals?  If anyone wants them- we have several jars of snails, catepillars, a frog in a bucket, a few dogs and now a rabbit…  I’m sure Jack can find a lizard or two to throw in there as well!

Enough animals and on with the TWINS!!!!!  Did I mention they are identical?  I met with a great family down there.  This was my second set of twins to work with- but my first time setting them free in the wild.  Two of them running in different directions is tough!  These guys are 18 months old and just adorable little boys-  I had a hard time getting attention and my usual barks, moos and quacks didn’t work too good.  Not to worry, I think I still got some great shots and dad didn’t do too bad himself!  He was patient the entire 2 hours-

Phew…..

Easter Event is over and I think this sums up the mood of it all….

img_0288.jpg

The girls and I are just a bit tired, sunburned and moving slower after a few days full of nonstop chasing after animals!  Thank you to Southern Heritage who allowed us to use their courtyard!  Thanks also to Dena, Wendy, Morgan, Jessica and Kaitlyn for helping out- I could not have done this alone and you guys were awesome!  I want to give a HUGE thank you to the Corley’s for bringing over the bunnies and Mutton and Lambchop.   They were the true stars!  If you want something to do with the children, I recommed checking out their website www.corleysminiatureacres.com and maybe riding out there to pet the animals.  I will be making a trip out there this week to purchase a rabbit (Jack insisted that he has to have one now after playing with them on Saturday!)

After a few nonstop days, what could be better than jumping right back into work- (I’m heading to Marksville after lunch for a twin session!!) and I had a senior session yesterday-  she just happens to be my niece!  She’s a brave soul (waded in murky water, fought off ants, bugs, lizards, bees, wild animals and a terrible sparrow attack) - and like her mother, LOVES to laugh!

Meet Kris-

So.. I’m thinking I like senior sessions!  Especially when they turn out like this!

Meet Amanda- Olla’s favorite waitress and soon to be College freshman.   Really- what can I say other than she’s just a great girl and she ROCKED her session!  WOW!!!   Is it just me, but do 18 year olds NOT look like 18 year olds anymore?  I do not remember looking like this (ever… lol)

Birthday Boys…

Posted in Uncategorized on March 20, 2007 by shannalynn

I saw this little fellow today for his 1 year old portraits.  He was certainly a mover, and not very fond of having his picture made!  Good thing I’m just a bit faster that he is… wink wink.. because I got a good one here!

Oh I did say “boys”  today is Stu’s birthday -  we won’t reveal the age though…. Happy Birthday Stu! What can I say- without you I would certainly not be where I am!  We love you!

and I hear too that this little boy’s auntie had a birthday today too-  she just happens to be one of the dearest friends I have.. a sweet gentle spirit… Happy Birthday Kristi!

The location for Easter Portraits has finally been chosen!  The courtyard across from Southern Heritage Bank will be the spot!  I want to give a special thanks to Ms. Wilson for allowing us to use the courtyard!

To those coming from out of town- here’s a map

the red dot’s the spot…

By the way- if it’s raining, we’ll be inside the studio!

Because a post without a picture is just plain boring- here’s one of my girl-

Boys will be boys…

Posted in Uncategorized on March 16, 2007 by shannalynn

Becky- so to answer your question- Did we get anything?  You better believe it!!  WOW!!!

Oh goodness- I can not explain how completely happy I am with how this shoot turned out!    I knew immediately when I saw two boys that we were gonna have fun- and they were a blast!  They warmed up fast and I gotta say - it’s days and sessions like these that make me feel a bit strange calling this “work”!   I love this job!!    Funny that someone mentioned today all the years of college (I have degree in English oddly enough- although my typing leaves a LOT to be desired)   and how after all of it I still ended up doing this-  I don’t have any regrets, I feel blessed to have been lead to where I am!

Okay enough rambling-  you have to check out the images below- to me- they are just about perfect!  Two barefoot, freckle faced boys- sitting on the back of their grandpa’s truck drinking a couple of cokes-  the simple pleasures…. childhood at it’s best!

(Oh and notice the feet touching?  These kids are melting me!!! )
