This fall I had a love affair with a patch of yellow curly grass. The late afternoon sun made this small patch of grass shine in yummy golden tones. What really captured my fancy was how the grass had little twisty curls at the end. Either I am easy to impress, or it is great grass! I must have taken every session I had from October through December out there! I know every hidden rock, hole and broken glass now. A year ago, I never knew it was there. It’s not that it’s in hiding- on the contrary, it’s right off the road. I have probably driven past it a thousand times. I just never stopped to notice how something so ordinary could be so unique- and honestly I don’t think anyone else had either. There are Styrofoam cuts, trash, tires, glass, whatever we deem fit to toss out our windows, it’s all strewn throughout. You won’t see these pieces of garbage at first glance though, nature has a way covering up our downfalls. Despite the litter, the individual strands spring up and release their bonnet of spiral twirls.
Here’s my last session out there- the Ashley girls….goodness we love these girls! They have become family to us, a family that Claire prefers to be with. Claire is sitting in my lap crying right now to go see them. Yes, she’s up too late
the right light, the right lens, the right girls and the colors are magic
